Our Green Heritage

Building Green - What shade of green are we!

We are "Built Green Colorado" Green.  Or maybe we should say Built Better.

Owning an environmentally friendly house doesn’t mean making sacrifices. In fact, a Built Green Colorado house is one of the most high-performance, durable, and resource-efficient homes you can buy.

Built Green Colorado is a voluntary green building program that serves as a blueprint for healthier, more comfortable homes, which reduce utility bills and protect the environment. The homeowner benefits include:

  • Savings on operating, health, and repair costs
  • Conservation of resources and energy
  • Improved indoor air and water quality
  • Quiet, comfortable, and durable

Built Green Colorado was developed by the Metro Denver Home Builders Association in cooperation with E-Star and is one of the fastest growing and most comprehensive program of its kind in the country. In order to be certified under the Built Green Colorado program, a home must undergo rigorous third-party inspections for compliance along with performance testing.

The following areas are evaluated

  • Site planning
  • Energy efficient techniques, equipment, and performance
  • Resource efficient design and materials
  • Waste management
  • Indoor air quality
  • Water conservation
  • Home buyer education and opportunities
  • Builder operations
